Head First

By  |

I don’t have time. I’m tired. I’m too busy. Something came up. I don’t know where to begin. I have no motivation. I have too much to do. No one supports me. It seems like everyone wants me to fail. I can’t do it. They’re going to laugh at me. People will stare. I don’t want to get hurt. Something hurts. I’m sick. It’s not a good time. I have physical limitations. I’ll start Monday. Next Monday. I’m too weak… STOP.

head first

I’m no stranger to these excuses, I’ve not only used them a time or two, but I also hear them on the daily. Unknown things are scary. Change sucks at first. I know we’ve talked about these things in the past, but it’s time that we revisit… Enough with the Excuses. If we used these excuses for our jobs, friends and families even half the number of times we use them on dieting and exercising, we’d be out of a job and our loved ones would be pretty upset with us. So why do we think it’s okay to continually avoid eating right and working out? Your job is important. Your family is important, Your friends are important. SO IS YOUR HEALTH. We make excuses because we’re afraid of the unknown. It’s only when we break through that fear head first that we will grow.

head first

Everyone starts somewhere. I can tell you with the utmost confidence that NO ONE is staring at you, laughing at you or paying any attention to you, whatsoever. There. See? We already broke through that one. You do have time. I see doctors, nurses and business owners come in every single day and workout. If they have time, so do you. Watch one less episode of Big Bang Theory every night and BANG! You suddenly have time for the gym. (HeHe, Did you see what I did there?) Did you know that the more you exercise the less sore you’ll be every time? You just gotta push through it. So you have no support system? Ehem, I’m right here! I’m pretty good at motivating too! In the past couple months, I’ve worked with people that have all sorts of physical limitations. They come in consistently and they never complain. You’re excuses are officially invalid. It’s all about mindset. Picture yourself on a diving board. There’s a pool full of everything you’ve ever dreamed of right underneath you. You can stand there on the board, cowering in fear or you can dive in head first. Get your mind right first and your body will follow.

head first

When you finally realize that all you are doing is making excuses and you actually CAN do it (no matter what it, is), your life will be changed. You CAN and you WILL. Make 2016 the year that you transform your life. Afterall, it’s in your hands and your hands only. You can’t blame anyone else. When you lose the excuses, you gain so much more. Trust me on that. Here’s to a successful 2016!

Until next time…

I'm an NASM Certified Personal Trainer and Corrective Exercise Specialist. I worked in a gym setting back in Florida for over 2 years, training one-on-one clients and leading group fitness classes. I absolutely loved it, but once we moved across the country to Colorado, I decided to take the opportunity to pursue a slightly different career! My obsession with exercise and love for writing collided, which is how I became a fitness lifestyle writer.
