Headed to Homer

I Need To Feel Your Bun…

I stepped through the metal detector and the woman waved me forward. “One moment, ma’am. I need to feel your bun..” “My what? OH. Uhh…okay?” She grabbed my hair and proceeded to pat down the knot on top of my head. I started to laugh. “I can take it down if you want.” She smiled at me, “That won’t be necessary.”

We made it to our gate about 90 minutes before boarding so we stopped for some lunch. It was only my dad’s second time being on a plane in his life. He needed a drink. Boarding was a little delayed but we made it on just a few minutes behind schedule. He did really well! We landed in Seattle about 6 hours after takeoff (11:30pm our time but 8:30pm Seattle time).

Uh-Oh

Our connection would start boarding in 30 minutes. As we made our way down to the tram, we realized there was quite a bit of people waiting. It didn’t take long to figure out that it wasn’t working. Now it wouldn’t have been a big deal had there been a walkway, but there WASN’T. If we couldn’t get on the tram, we wouldn’t be able to get to our next gate that was now boarding. The doors finally opened and we pushed our way on. When we got to the other side, we noticed there was no one at the gate. “Ah crap” I mumbled… “I had a feeling that was going to happen!” I ran over to the customer service desk and got the updated gate. The lady said it was like a 10 minute walk…

We Made It

We made it by the skin of our teeth and we took off for Anchorage around 9:30 local time (12:30am for us Floridians). The flight to Anchorage took about 3 hours but we gained another hour. I was a zombie by this point, especially since I had now been awake for over 24 hours. We landed at 11:30pm Anchorage time which was 3:30am in my own head.

Zombie

We got to my aunt’s house by midnight (4am) and I passed out pretty soon after that. We woke up this morning and kind of took it easy. We went to pick up the rental car (2015 Suburban and then we made our way to the rental house! It BEAUTIFUL. We’re about 4 miles up the mountain and it’s COLD. Well, Florida cold. It’s 50 degrees here right now and getting windy! We’re sitting here right now, eating some chili and having some drinks. I can’t wait to go to sleep!

I fell asleep….

Okay, it’s the next morning and we’re getting ready to head to Homer, AK for an overnight trip! Can’t wait to see what it’s like. I’ll write more when we get back tomorrow!

Until next time…

P.S. I MISS MIKE MILLER!

I'm an NASM Certified Personal Trainer and Corrective Exercise Specialist. I worked in a gym setting back in Florida for over 2 years, training one-on-one clients and leading group fitness classes. I absolutely loved it, but once we moved across the country to Colorado, I decided to take the opportunity to pursue a slightly different career! My obsession with exercise and love for writing collided, which is how I became a fitness lifestyle writer.
