Best. Gift. Ever.

By  |

SO. This is my blog. I’ve been asked by several people today what my first real post is going to be about. I’ve been racking my brain trying to figure out what I want to start with. I actually didn’t figure it out until about a minute ago when I logged in for the first time. So, here it goes..

As you can see from the post below, this blog was a gift. A gift from a guy that is, and has been so supportive of every choice that I make and have made for the past 7+ years. His name is Mike, but you’ll probably notice me refer to him as “Goose”. Don’t ask me where that nickname came from.. I have no idea. It just felt right, ya know? You see, I’ve been talking about wanting to start a blog (he can vouch for that.. trust me) for quite some time. I have a bad habit of talking myself out of things. After blabbing on and on about how fun and awesome I think it would be to have one, I would always manage to end with something to the effect of, *sigh* “But, my life is too boring and average to write a blog. It’ll never happen.” That’s when Goose would pop up and remind me that it doesn’t necessarily have to be a day by day thing. He says, “You can write about any random thing you want to.” He went on to mention things like: working out, proper form, sharing my opinions on articles I’ve read, special occasions, our EPIC kayak trip on Lake Superior this past Summer (OH, believe me you, you’re going to HEAR about that one. Trust me, it’s a DOOZIE), and my personal favorite ‘the rants on the “gym bros”’ as he called it. I’m still laughing about that one. It was then that I realized I really DID have things that I could blog about that might interest someone.

FLASH FORWARD—> Valentine’s day, 2015. I got off work around 6:30pm (Ugh, retail) and went home to change and pick up some ingredients for our dinner that we were gonna make. He boiled the king crab as I made the salad and whipped up the Red Lobster garlic muffins. Yes, they really do sell them at the grocery store. You’re welcome. After we were done feasting on all that awesomeness, we exchanged our gifts. I got him 2 boxes of the protein bars he likes to eat on his way to work in the morning (I’m a practical gifts kind of girl). Eeeek, it was my turn. I pulled the tissue paper out of the bag and saw a little purple tank top. As i pulled it out of the bag I saw that super duper adorable little cupcake half way through a chin up staring back at me. I almost fell right off the chair. As I picked my jaw up off the floor, he got up and walked into his bedroom. He came back out a few seconds later carrying his laptop. My inner dialogue went something like this… “It couldn’t be, it couldn’t be, it couldn’t be” He faced the screen towards me. “HOLY CRAP. It is! It’s a blog. It’s MY blog. I have a logo! OMG it’s the cutest logo in the history of the world” What actually came out of my mouth was, “…You built me a website??! aaaahh I LOVE it!”

He had done it. He had given me the one thing that I never thought I’d have. He believed in what I want to do so much (even when I didn’t), that he spent practically every night for the past month putting it together for me. My mind was boggled.

Goose is a web developer, so he spends 40+ hours a week doing web developer things. Instead of coming home every night and relaxing like he deserves, he worked to give me this. It’s because of that, that I’m going to make this the Greatest Blog Ever. My plan for this blog, well, I pretty much already covered that in the About me section. Don’t fret, I won’t let this become a boring, run-of-the-mill health and fitness blog. I also plan on sharing all of the awesome/funny/odd/crafty things I find on my biggest addiction, Pinterest, with you. I’m so so so excited, and have so many topic ideas already. As much as I’d like to stay here and ramble some more, it’s time for me to go learn some more about the muscular system. Stay tuned!

I'm an NASM Certified Personal Trainer and Corrective Exercise Specialist. I worked in a gym setting back in Florida for over 2 years, training one-on-one clients and leading group fitness classes. I absolutely loved it, but once we moved across the country to Colorado, I decided to take the opportunity to pursue a slightly different career! My obsession with exercise and love for writing collided, which is how I became a fitness lifestyle writer.

I BETTER SEE SOME DELICIOUS CUPCAKE RECIPES ON HERE RIGHT NAIOWW OR I’M CALLING FALSE ADVERTISING. On a side note, I am very intimidated by your biceps.
