About Me

Hey guys, I’m Erin!

I’m a 26 year old personal trainer, living in the Tampa, Florida area. I was born and raised here, around all of my family. It was a blast growing up, being so close to everyone. As much as I love being surrounded by all my family, I’ve always felt more at home in the mountains. We used to take family vacations every year up to Gatlinburg, Tennessee. Since a very early age, I said that I would live there someday.

I met Mike during my Junior year of high school. You’ll hear me talk about him a lot. We’re married now. He’s always felt the same pull towards the mountains as I did, but he wants to go out West. We took our honeymoon in November of 2016 to Telluride, Colorado. The Smoky Mountains are beautiful, don’t get me wrong, but the mountains of Colorado are breathtaking. His plan worked and he’s convinced me to move out there. We’re (tentatively) aiming to get out there permanently, by Fall 2018

A lot of people ask me how I got into personal training. After high school, my original plan was to get into the medical field but I had no set path. After attempting (and failing) to get into the physical therapy program several years in a row, I felt lost. I walked away from college with an Associates degree in General Studies. At the time I was working a very demanding retail job that was literally consuming me. I just wanted to get OUT. Throughout all the stress in my life, working out was my release. I don’t remember when, but becoming a personal trainer crossed my mind somewhere a long the line. I have a tendency to avoid making decisions. After an emotional breakdown somewhere in the middle of 2014, Mike finally gave me the little extra push that I needed to get my personal training certification.

On July 3rd, 2015 I passed my NASM Personal Training exam. Since then, I’ve also earned my corrective exercise specialization (CES). I feel like I’m exactly where I’m supposed to be. My job is to help others feel better, happier and healthier! It doesn’t get much better than that. I chose to get my CES because I was coming into contact with a lot of people with joint/mobilization issues. One day, an older man I was working with said to me, “I gotta be honest with you… everything we’re doing is almost identical to what I was doing in physical therapy, this is just a lot more affordable.” I couldn’t help but laugh.

I wanted a blog mainly so that I could share things that I’ve learned and experienced. It, too, is a great stress reliever. If just one thing I write helps just one person, it will all be worth it. It’s important to understand that even if you feel like you have no direction, KNOW that you DO have a purpose. You’ll find it. You may have already found it, maybe you just talked yourself out of it. Just keep trying.

Thank you for checking out my site, I hope you learn something new. Feel free to contact me!
